Reflecting on Wellness: Grounded Governance’s Day of Connection and Growth

Last Friday, Grounded Governance hosted a Wellness Day, bringing together clients and colleagues from Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown, Cromwell, and Wanaka for a day dedicated to personal and business well-being. Against the stunning backdrop of Albert Town, the day was a reminder of the importance of stepping away from the daily grind to refocus, recharge, and reconnect.

A Day of Holistic Well-being

The carefully curated itinerary included activities designed to nurture both body and mind, from invigorating morning yoga on the grass to a creative exercise focused on unlocking business strategy through creativity. Our chef, Andy, led an engaging cooking class, teaching attendees not only delicious recipes but also the joy of shared culinary experiences. The day ended with some down-to-earth discussions on personal goal setting and connection. Capped off with refreshments and more delicious treats.

Highlights from the day included:

      • Cold Swim: A brisk start for the early risers, invigorating the mind and body.
      • Yoga on the Grass: Led by Cassie, this session brought grounding and energy to set the tone for the day.
      • Morning Craft Activity – “Create the Future”: A creative exercise proving that strategy is as much about imagination as it is about planning.
      • Cooking Class and Lunch: Chef Andy guided us through a collaborative culinary session, showcasing the importance of good foundations – in this case, sauces and dressings.
      • Personal Goal Setting for 2025: Giselle facilitated a reflective session to help attendees focus on their aspirations for the coming year.

Why Wellness Matters

Events like these go beyond relaxation. They highlight the interconnectedness of personal and business wellness. When we take time to nourish ourselves, we gain the clarity and resilience needed to lead and make impactful decisions. For boards and businesses alike, prioritising wellness can lead to stronger teamwork, improved morale, and enhanced strategic outcomes.

Gratitude and Acknowledgements

This day would not have been possible without the contributions of our team members Giselle, Cassie, and Bex, whose energy and thoughtfulness made the event truly memorable. A special thank-you to Chef Andy, whose delicious creations and culinary wisdom added so much flavour to the day.

Take the Wellness Mindset Forward

Whether you’re a board member, business leader, or part of a growing team, we encourage you to consider hosting a wellness day for your workplace or clients. It’s an investment in the kind of meaningful connections that drive both personal and professional growth.
